Non_Chexsystems_banks

If chexsystems is making your life miserable then you've come to the right hub. I've been there. Bank account closed, no place to cash my check except at those blood thirsty check cashing stores... that sucked!

When I found a solution I decided i'd put it up on the net. So here's what I found out when I was out there wrestling with chexsystems trying to find a non chexsystems bank account.

1st) If you're on chexsystems, most banks (about 85%) will NOT open a bank account for you. Which can be a real pain trying to keep your bills paid on time.

2nd) Check cashing stores are very expensive. They actually smile as they charge you those outragious fees. I didn't find it all that funny, maybe it's me.

3rd) If you're on chexsystems your record will remain there for 5-years. And durring that 5-years no chexsystems bank will work with you.

4th) The world didn't just end. There are banks out there that will help you.

5th) Finding them can be a real paid. They don't advertise we are a non chexsystems bank" altho that would be nice :-)

So you've got a few options. You can fight your chexsystems report. If you have documented proof that it was the banks error you might have a shot at getting the incident removed from your chexsystems report.

BUT: if you don't have PROOF (stories, even good ones don't work) then it's time to look for a bank that doesn't work with chexsystems. Now it gets a little harder. You can go from bank to bank and try to open a new account and see what happens. I tried that ..waste of time.

You can surf the net looking for free lists of banks that will open an account for you. Sadly many of those lists are outdated and the folks who put them up have long since moved on. Even buying a list of banks isn't a guarantee as many of them got their list from the free list (again not updated)

When you do a search for non chexsystems or no chex systems or non check systems banks you will find pre-paid debit card companies. And almost never a real non chexsystems bank. But is that a bad thing?

Let's think about this. In todays society more and more people pay their bills using online banking. Instead of making the trip to the Post Office, standing in line, buying stamps and envlopes and then waiting for the mail man to deliver.

Many people just log on to their online bank account and with a couple clicks of their mouse they pay their bills. No stamps, no envelopes, no gas (at $5-bucks a gallon) they just click and hit send. So paying your bills is easier and cheaper done online.

Pre paid debit cards will offer you cash at ATMs worldwide and most will give you your money back if someone steals your card... Ya can't do that with cash.

Most employers offer direct deposit of your paycheck to your account. They do it because it's much cheaper for them to have the banks handle the paycheck process then write out checks. So no matter whare your bank is, you have instant access to your funds on payday. No running around in rush hour trafic or standing in line trying the get your check cashed. Just use that Visa or MC. If you want cash, stop to an ATM and grab some.

One word of caution. Not all online or off line TV commercial pre-paid debit cards are the same. It's important to check for the fees make sure they're in it to provide a service and not make a killing off your situation.

But what if you gotta have a checkbook and can't make a an online banking with bill pay and debit Visa or MC work for you. OK I hear ya. Here's some of the options.

Hit the phone book (yellow pages) and look for small single branch banks. Most of the larger banks are all non chexsystems banks and since check systems is an aggressive marketing company many of the small ones are to. But if you have any chance then stay to the SMALL independent banks.

But don't call and ask if they're a non chexsystems bank... it sort of says

"hey here's a problem". You'll have to do some leg work or some networking. Your friends can help you (no you don't need to tell them your on chexsystems) just ask for banking recommendations. Tell them you'd like to find a nice personal small bank. You're sick of the big-faceless-brand name bank where nobody knows you.

If they bank with a small bank (the kind you're looking for) they can even give you an introduction :-) and you may have a new bank.

If you want to skip all the running around and searching you can go to non chexsystems bank they offer both prepaid debit card, with direct deposit banks and online checking and a real brick and mortar bank with checkbooks. and they will work with you if you're on chexsystems, TeleCheck or are re establishing your credit.
